Stick Plant?

Over the last few years, I have seen this plant at my in-laws house, out front in their garden, and I always wanted a cutting of it. Well finally over the weekend I remebered to get a cutting while we were there.
I'm not too sure of its proper name (if anyone knows please comment with it).
I did try looking it up and came across this website: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/2957/
This site has what seams like different varities of the plant. Mine is just the plain green one.
I know this plant dosen't like the frost. Thats how my in-laws lost their big plant.
So this like all my other plants (I always end up going for non-cold hardy plants) I will have to protect in the winter.
So in growing this thing, I have been told to just stick in the some soil and it will take off, so that it what I have done right now. I do feel like I want to add some rooting hormone to it just incase though, but I will read up some more on it first.
UPDATE
Just came across this and this looks more like mine.

Starting again

Okay so last year I had trouble with this site, it wouldn't let me upload posts, for months i tried and it just wouldn't work, So i'm going to try again. Now my son is 17months old he will let me have a little time to myself for updated posts and watering the plants. lol Last year he would just scream every time I moved out of sight.

So fingers crossed this will work ...
